Calendar: Fringe Fest and More!

It’s Fringe season again, but if you’re not into theatre, you might be feeling a little left out. Never fear! Victoria still has plenty going on. Get outside and learn about frogs at Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary or take in the Johnson Street and Greek Festivals. Freshen up your dog and enjoy a brew at the Phillips Brewing company dog wash fundraiser. Or get into Victoria’s coffee scene with For the Love of Coffee, coffee exhibition and Western Barista Championships.

Frog Day – Discover what makes frogs so fabulous. Featuring puppet shows, hands-on displays, live andimals and froggy crafts. THURSDAY noon-3pm at Swan Lake Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary (3873 Swan Lake). By donation/$3 for crafts. 250-479-0211.

Tour De Rock BBQ Bash – Come down to and enjoy a BBQ in support of the Tour de Rock. Food, drinks, music and more! THURSDAY 5-9pm at Glo (104-2940 Justland). $20. 250-385-5643.

Fringe Block Party – Kick off the Fringe in style! Featuring Fruit Bats and The Archers. THURSDAY 7pm at Centennial Square. All ages. Free. victoriafringe.com.  

For the Love of Coffee – Browse coffee exhibits and watch the exciting Western Barista Championships. SATURDAY 8am-9pm & SUNDAY 11am-9pm at the Crystal Gardens. $5. 250-544-1778.

Johnson Street Festival – Support Make-A-Wish BC while enjoying entertainment, children activities and more! SATURDAY 10am-6pm on the 500 & 600 blocks of Johnson. Free. makeawishbc.ca.

Dog Wash Fundraiser – Bring Fido down for a refreshing bath while you sample tantalizing brews from Phillips! (Must be 19+ to sample brews). SATURDAY noon-4pm at Phillips Brewing Company (2010 Government). By donation. 250-380-1912.

Tour De Rock Bachelor Auction – Kool Fm and Channel A bring you hot studs! Funds raised support Tour De Rock. SATURDAY 9pm at 9one9 (919 Douglas). Free. tourderock@nellmedia.ca.

Greek Fest – Offering an array of authentic Greek food, desserts, baked goods, a Greek deli, arts and crafts, continuous live music and folk dancing from many different cultures including Greek, Middle Eastern, European and others.  TUESDAY-Sept. 5 11am at the Greek Community Centre (4648 Elk Lake).
