Calendar: Fashion and Boots for Charity

The weather might be inconsistent, but Monday Mag’s events are always on the up-and-up. This weeks events promise to please, whether you’re looking to make the world a better place or just let loose and relax.

The Lusty Month of May – Fashion show fundraiser and dance party. Proceeds benefit Canadian Hadassah-WIZO and Jeneece Place. THURSDAY 6pm at the English Inn (429 Lampson). $75. 778-410-0111.

Fill boots for Muscular Dystophy – Money raised by Lower Vancouver Island Fire Fighters will be donated to improve the quality of life for people living with neuromuscular disorders. FRIDAY & SATURDAY at locations throughout Victoria. 1-604-732-8799.

Selkirk Waterfront Festival – Get captivated by the food, fun and festivities. SATURDAY 10am-3pm at the Selkirk Waterfront (2940 Jutland). Free. 250-388-6261.

The Pole Painting Project – You, your kids, your friends, your neighbours and your dog are invited to paint a telephone pole as a permanent art piece for the neighbourhood of Fernwood. Victoria Toy Show – The biggest toy show in Western Canada. SUNDAY 10am-4pm at the Sanscha Hall, The Mary Winspear Centre (2243 Beacon). $3/free for children. 250-727-2403, victoriatoyshow.com.

Horticulture Centre of the Pacific Open House – Celebrate the one year anniversary of HCP’s management of Outerbridge Park. Come out and walk the  trails, ponds and bridges of the 9.3 acre nature sanctuary. SUNDAY 1-4pm at Outerbridge Park. Free. 250-479-6162.

Wild Lilies Tea – An elegant afternoon tea to celebrate the contributions of women like Emily Carr and the Sisters of Saint Ann while working towards a future without breast cancer.
