Feeling like you’ve not got enough fun in your life? Never fear, Victoria Day weekend is here with fun to spare. Family fun can be found throughout this weeks calendar, but keep an eye of for the Luxton Rodeo, Vancouver Island’s only  rodeo, and the Highland Games, Victoria’s only source for caber toss.

Braefoot Family Fun Night – Live music, face-painting, program info, visit from Dora and Diego! BBQ by donation. RSVP to and receive $20 off a week of Braefoot camp! THURSDAY 5:30-7:30pm iin Braefoot Park (1359 McKenzie). Free. 250-721-2244.

Luxton Pro Rodeo – The excitement of a Wild West test of endurance and skill foreign to the urban dweller. With carnival rides, an antique car show, live music, blacksmith demonstrations, and vendors.. SATURDAY, May 21, to MONDAY, May 23 at the Luxton Fairgrounds (1040 Marwood). $18/$15. Highland Games & Celtic Festival – A great weekend of Scottish culture and entertainment. SATURDAY & SUNDAY 8am-6pm at Topaz Park. $10/$8 students and seniors/free for children under 12, weekend pass $18/$15 students and seniors. Visit for a detailed schedule of events.

MEC Bikefest – Mountain Equipment Co-op hosts the city’s second annual MEC Bikefest Open to anyone who enjoys cycling and wants to celebrate and share its joys and benefits with their fellow cyclists. SUNDAY 10am at William Stevenson Park. Free. 250-386-2667.

Another event for your long weekend listing…. Vancouver Concert Opera Co-Operative ( present it’s touring concert of Bizet’s Carmen this Sunday, May 22nd at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian. Described as “riveting, passionate, poignant and totally satisfying” (Opera Canada 2011) this opera “in-concert” will be sung in French with English narration. Advance tickets are $18 and $22 and can be purchased online at CASH ONLY ($21 and $25) at the door.
