GRASSROOTS PICNIC – Hosted by Transitions Victoria. Bring food and an instrument and help loosen dependence on fossil fuels. Gettin’ Higher Choir performs. SATURDAY noon-4pm at Porter Park (1330 Fairfield). Free. 250-361-1955.

DINE & DESIGN BBQ BENEFIT – Live music from Preston McCool band, eat, drink, shop and more. Proceeds go to Victoria Hospice SATURDAY noon-6pm at various locations in the Design District (Herald). By donation.

WINE AND CHEESE TASTING – Join the tour featuring Vancouver Island wines hosted by The Victorian At McKenzie retirement community. SATURDAY 3-5pm at The Victorian At McKenzie (4000 Douglas). Free. 250-381-9496.

GALA FUNDRAISING CONCERT – Bring a picnic gear and a generous soul. Hear the Summer of Community Singing/Service Choir perform with special guests.
